JH Favorites: June
our semi-regular round up of what we’re interested in … May/June 2019 edition!
1. READING
Graphic novels: my bfs knows my ADD issues around reading…so for my birthday she bought me two graphic novels by women writers. One is called “Bitch Planet,” a dystopian, feminist portrayal of the exploitation film genre.
2. INDULGING
Got a proper haircut (shoutout to Lindsay and Dell at Spoke & Weal! Sometimes a simple cut feels like a fresh start. I also got a lash lift (kind of like a perm for your eyelashes, I haven’t worn mascara in weeks!) thanks to genius Christina Sugarin.
3. LISTENING
Mereba’s album “The Jungle is the Only Way Out”
4. ACTIVITY
I’ve found myself writing notes to myself in the middle of the night while I’m high…and then discovering them and re-reading in the morning. Does anyone else do this?! It’s interesting and funny to revisit different versions of yourself.
5. WEARING
When I went to the Tucson Gem Show earlier this year I bought this cute recycled heart diamond and just turned it into my own special pinky signet. I love it! It’s paired here with our newest limited edition polish, Nectar.
6. SKIN
An oldie but a goodie — revisiting the wonder that is Sunday Riley’s Good Genes serum. I’m not saying the ingredients are perfect but it really works!
7. DRINK
Ginger milk tea. Delicious and comforting.
8. EAT
Tried Tea leaf salad at Daw Yee Myanmar in Silverlake and can’t stop thinking about it — fermented tea leaves mixed with a lime/garlic dressing.
9. TRAVEL
I took a trip last weekend to Santa Fe and Georgia O’Keeffe’s house in Abiquiu. Something about the sky and landscape there immediately calms me down. I returned home with a suitcase full of smooth Southwestern stones.
